For the past 4 years, the India Giani Fund has supported the attendance of Indian pediatricians practicing neonatology in India to the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) conference in the spring or to the Hot Topics in Neonatology in December. All scholars are also given the opportunity to rotate through a state-of-the-art NICU in a university teaching hospital.

1) observe the clinical care rendered in the US to the extremely low birth weight (ELBW) and the very sick newborns
2) learn the latest in technology or acquire new knowledge in performing complex neonatal procedures which can be adapted and practiced back home in India in a cost-effective manner to save lives
3) discuss collaborative research with peers who are experts in either the NICUs or at the international conferences the visiting scholars attend
4) provide a forum for presentation of the visiting scholars' original research at the international conferences.
